When I think of camping I always reference back to the Man Hike which took place 4 days before Training Camp in May of 2014. That hike was 22 miles long over the space of 2 days where the weather switched from blazing hot to hailing to windy on top of the mountains to pouring buckets. It was atrocious.

I was preparing myself emotionally to think positively and expect that the worst will come. But the first day was a short 4 mile hike with very little elevation changes and very cool weather. The second day consisted of 7 miles of the same type of weather and altitude changes. Then the third day we had 24 hours of being completely by ourselves to have a time with the Lord.

It was the chillest day that I’ve ever had. I had a view of the river in front of me. It was cool enough for a flannel. I went back and forth from reading Genesis to laying down on my air pad. I felt incredibly blessed that the Lord just changed what I was expecting to something so much better.

It was also a small reminder of what Adventures told me since the day I partnered with them: don’t have expectations. In this one circumstance, the situation was a lot better than the expectation. But this is a rare occurrence; especially while your in missions.

Here’s to a new season that began in the most content way possible.
